Austin Gray: Are you a home service business wondering which software you should use to manage your business?
In this video, I'm going to give you five reasons why I love using Jobber to manage our tree service, excavation, and snow removal business here in Colorado, and why it can work for you, no matter what service you're offering or where you're located.
Are you starting a home service business in 2025 and wondering what software you should use to manage your business?
My name is Austin Gray. I own Bearclaw Land Services here in Colorado, and I also host the OWNR OPS Podcast. Over the last two years, we've generated $1.5 million through our digital marketing strategies and software implementation to run an unsexy service business like a modern-day business, leveraging software.
So, I'm going to give you all the details as to why I chose Jobber to run my service-based business. We offer forestry services, excavation services, and during the winter, we provide snow removal services.
I'm going to tell you five reasons why you should use Jobber. I'm also going to share some things I don’t like about it at the end. If you watch this whole video, you’ll be aware of how to create workarounds I’ve developed for items like recurring jobs in snow removal businesses. But this will work for any home service business — if you're in pest control, pressure washing, landscaping, or lawn maintenance, this is a one-size-fits-all solution that does most things pretty well.
Let's start with reason number one:
1. Client Management System
The reason you would want to use Jobber is that it is a client management system. Here, you can see all of our client details. You can click into one of these and view the properties managed for a specific customer. For example, we have roughly 150 homes that we manage for one specific client.
You can add multiple different properties under one customer. Taking a step back, you can look at all the contact info you can store, such as company name, main phone line, email, and also tag clients. We’ll dive into the tagging process when we discuss recurring jobs in our snowplow business.
At a basic level, you can manage the client's name, email, phone number, and keep track of all that information rather than using pen and paper or just your iPhone contacts.
2. Website Integration
The second reason this is important is that it integrates with your website. We receive requests that come in via a custom form embedded on our site. If you visit our website and click "Get a Free Quote," this is actually a Jobber form that we use.
Potential customers can enter their first and last name, email, phone number, address, and specify the projects or services they’re interested in. Once a client submits their information, it populates in our Jobber app under the requests section.
Anyone on our team, whether a sales rep or project manager, can utilize this contact information from first contact to selling and booking the job.
3. Creating Quotes
Now, let’s jump to the third reason why Jobber is a good system to manage your home service business: it allows you to take that client information from their request and create a quote.
If we go back to requests and want to turn one into a quote, we simply select the services the client is interested in. For instance, if they want snowplowing for a residential property, we can click "More Actions," then "Convert to Quote."
We will enter details such as the project category and the salesperson's name. Once we finish the details and enter the pricing, we have the option to collect a deposit if needed.
Jobber allows us to send the quote directly to the client's email or as a text message, making the process efficient.
4. Job Scheduling
The fourth reason why Jobber is great is that it allows you to manage your schedule with jobs.
After sending out a quote, if the client wants to book, you can convert it to a job. You'll have options to create a job title, start date, and end date, making it easy to schedule around existing commitments.
If you're a project manager, you’ll see your available dates based on your team’s schedule, which can streamline the entire process.
Jobber even lets you assign the task to different crews. For example, if we have a forestry job, we would assign it to our forestry crew and notify them through their mobile app.
5. Invoicing and Payments
Finally, the fifth reason Jobber is excellent for managing a home service business is that it enables you to send invoices directly from the app and collect payments.
Jobber integrates with a payment platform called Stripe. Stripe powers most online transactions and is safe and secure. I assure my customers, especially the older generation, that our use of Stripe ensures their payment is secure.
Once a job is completed, you can easily convert it into an invoice. Jobber allows you to filter jobs by their payment status, helping you keep track of accounts receivable efficiently.
Every Monday, during my financial review, I can quickly assess outstanding invoices and send reminders via email or text, which is a great feature for ensuring timely payments.
There are multiple other benefits with Jobber. This is just a high-level overview of why I think Jobber is the best home service software on the market today.
If you’re starting a business in 2025 and have any questions, feel free to post them in the comments below. I'm happy to create more tutorials on Jobber, covering topics like sending a quote, setting up a job, or navigating invoicing.
